Timberwolves Edge Trail Blazers In Season Opener

----- Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 41 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 118-114 on opening night.

Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 41 and Julius Randle added 19 points and seven rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 118-114 Wednesday night at Moda Center.

Jerami Grant came off the bench and led Portland (0-1) with 29 points and Deni Avdija added 20 points and seven rebounds. Jrue Holiday finished with 14 points and seven assists in his Trail Blazers debut and Shaedon Sharpe finished with 15 on just 5-of-20 shooting.

Portland took a 95-88 lead into the fourth, but the Wolves used a 12-4 run later in the fourth to take a one-point lead with 3:30 to play.

Edwards nailed a three with just over a minute to play to give the Wolves a 114-112 lead. Minnesota put the game away following a Grant missed three and a Rudy Gobert bucket to put Minnesota up four with 32.1 seconds to play.

Avdija connected on a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to just two with 28 seconds remaining.

Edwards put the game away with a jumper with 6.8 seconds to play.

Up Next- The Trail Blazers host the Golden State Warriors Friday night at Moda Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
