Anfernee Simons led Portland (28-37) with a game-high 34 points and Jerami Grant added 25 points on 6-of-11 shooting from three-point range, but Portland struggled on offense for most of the night.
The Trail Blazers connected on just 38% of their field goals and were just 15-of-50 from three-point range.
Detroit (36-29) led by six at halftime and used an 18-6 third quarter run to take their largest lead of the game at 18. Portland chipped away and cut the deficit to 11 heading into the fourth with a 10-3 run at the end of the third.
The Trail Blazers were able to make it a one-possession game on a couple of occasions late in the fourth but couldn't get over the hump. Duop Reath, Toumani Camara, and Shaedon Sharpe all missed threes with a minute to play that would have tied the game. The Pistons sealed the win at the foul line.
Up Next- The Trail Blazers travel to San Francisco to meet the Warriors tomorrow night at Chase Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
