Corgis To Converge On Seaside

Close to 1,000 corgis will be hitting the beach this weekend for one of Oregon’s most iconic events. Corgi Beach Takeover features everyone’s favorite low-rider dogs socializing on the beach, parading their pantaloons in costume contests, and putting their stumps to the test as they race toward victory. The event also includes a silent auction, merchandise, and dozens of raffle items.

This is the second year that Corgi Beach Takeover is being held in Seaside after close to a decade in Cannon Beach. The event has grown from a small, informal gathering hosted by Portland Corgi Meetup Group to a massive celebration that draws pets and people from as far away as San Deigo and Vancouver, BC. While the short, stumpy, and sassy are the stars of the day, Corgi Beach Takeover benefits thousands of shelter pets and is one of OHS’ most important fundraising events – bringing in more than $16,000 in 2023.

“You can’t help but smile when you attend Corgi Beach Takeover – it’s cuteness overload on a whole new level,” says Shelby Hollenbeck, OHS Events Manager. “Plus, you can smile knowing that your registration is supporting the lifesaving programs at Oregon Humane Society.”
