Deputy Adopts Rescued Dog

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of animal abuse in the 3000 block of SW 198th Avenue in Aloha.

When deputies contacted the caller, they were introduced to “Dice,” a mixed-breed female dog cowering in the corner. Dice was covered in facial, head, and neck wounds, and her whiskers were burned down.

Deputies learned the previous owner gave the caller the dog in this condition. The caller relinquished any ownership interest in Dice to deputies who took her in for immediate medical care. After meeting with the veterinarian, deputies believed the previous owner to be responsible for Dice's injuries and returned to contact the man.

41-year-old Brandon Ash of Beaverton was arrested and will face the following charges: animal abuse in the first degree, animal neglect in the first degree, and animal neglect in the second degree.

The investigating deputy fell in love with Dice and decided to approach the idea of adopting her. Deputy Armstrong went through all the proper channels and did the required homework to become Dice's new owner.

As part of that new beginning, Deputy Armstrong has renamed her Trilly, short for trillium. Trilly has already become part of the Armstrong family and is thriving in her new home.

Deputy Armstrong would like to thank the Tanasbourne Veterinary Emergency and the Bonnie L. Hays Animal Shelter for their help in facilitating Trilly’s new life.
