Over the St. Patrick's Day holiday weekend, the Portland Police Bureau teamed up with state, county, and local law enforcement partners to conduct a high-visibility DUII enforcement mission. The operation resulted in more than 1,600 traffic stops, 950 citations, and 75 arrests connected to speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and more.
“We appreciate our law enforcement partners who were involved in this mission,” said Chief Bob Day. “These same drivers can cross into different jurisdictions, and it affects all our cities. This enforcement mission undoubtedly saved lives this weekend, and I am grateful for that. We hope it also raised awareness that impaired driving, speeding and distracted driving isn’t just illegal but can be deadly.”
