On December 12, 2023, just after 3:00 AM, officers from the Beaverton Police Department (BPD) conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Odyssey at the intersection of SW 178th Ave. and SW Alexander St. In the back of the Honda, officers observed a decease buck (male) deer.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 27-year-old David Brock of Aloha, Oregon initially claimed the deer was road struck, leading to his release. However, subsequent investigation revealed inconsistencies, prompting officers to later seize the deer from the Brock’s residence.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) were called and began an investigation into the deer’s cause of death. During the investigation it became evident the deer had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck from a large caliber bullet. No other injuries were observed on the deer.

During the investigation a spent 7mm bullet casing was found in the suspect's vehicle along with a camouflage range finder, a deer call, and camouflage boots.

OSP Troopers subsequently interviewed David Brock and issued him a citation for Unlawful Possession of Buck Deer. He is scheduled to appear in a Washington County Court in early February.

If you or someone you know has information about this case or others involving the illegal taking of Oregon’s wildlife, please call your local police or Oregon State Police’s “Turn in Poachers” (TIP) line at 1-800-452-7888.
