Oregon Humane Society marked an incredible milestone today – the 10,000th adoption of 2023. This is the combined total for our Portland and Salem campuses.
The adoption of Elio the cat took place at our Salem Campus this afternoon. This handsome cat came to OHS when his previous owner was not able to find pet-friendly housing. He was in our care for about two weeks before finding a loving home with Susan and her husband, and their 12-year-old dog who was adopted from OHS 10 years ago. They said they were “proud” to be OHS’ 10,000th adoption of 2023.
This is the first time Oregon Humane Society has hit 10,000 adoptions since 2019. With campuses in Portland and Salem, OHS finds homes for thousands of pets each year, cares for cats and dogs with special behavior needs at the Behavior and Rescue Center, and helps pet owners who are struggling to afford veterinary care at the Community Veterinary Hospital.
There are still many pets who are looking for a home this holiday season. Please visit our website www.oregonhumane.org/adopt for more information.
