Oregon gas stations are preparing for customers to pump their own gas.
A new law passed by the Legislature is expected to take effect sometime this week.
The Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office is coordinating with gas station owners to help with the change.
The website choiceatthepump.com has instructions for drivers who don't know how to use a gas pump along with a list of frequently asked questions.
Most stations will have an attendant along with self-serve pumps. Each gas station will implement the change in their own way.
The new law is expected to help gas station owners who haven't been able to find enough attendants to staff all of their pumps.
The bill takes effect as soon as Governor Tina Kotek signs it, which needs to happen by Friday. If she doesn't sign it the bill automatically takes effect on Saturday.
