Several arrests were made by North Precinct officers during a retail theft suppression mission.
On Friday, April 14, 2023, officers focused on the Jantzen Beach Shopping Center, working with local business representatives and loss prevention employees to arrest shoplifters and recover stolen products. Over the course of the mission, officers recovered a stolen vehicle filled with multiple stolen retail items and arrested several suspects. All told, the mission led to the recovery of over $2000 worth of stolen property. Officers arrested and identified several chronic shoplifters. Five subjects were arrested and charged with crimes ranging from trespassing, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and drug and theft related warrants were served.
These retail theft missions will continue for the foreseeable future to deter retail theft and other property related crime in North Portland.
