Holiday-light lovers have a few extra evenings to brighten their winter season — and enjoy some big savings — at the Oregon Zoo this weekend. ZooLights, presented by U.S. Bank, will extend its run by three days, with discounted admission to the winter wonderland from Friday, Jan. 6, through Sunday, Jan. 8.
After that, it’s lights out for another year.
“It’s been a great run, and we really hope everyone has a chance to experience this year’s ZooLights before we pack it up for the season,” said Mickey Webb, the zoo’s events director.
All the traditional displays are back: forests of lighted trees, dazzling life-size animal silhouettes and the light-bedecked zoo train. And new to ZooLights this year: a spectacular display on the central lawn celebrating the Oregon Coast and its unique wildlife, including otters, seals, sea lions, urchins, sea stars, crabs and more.
Tickets for Jan. 6–8 are $12 per person — about half off regular ZooLights admission. ZooLights is a special event and is not included with regular daytime admission. All guests, including members, must reserve tickets in advance via the zoo website. For tickets and additional info, visit oregonzoo.org/zoolights.
The zoo will be closed during regular daytime hours on Tuesday through Thursday through Feb. 16, allowing staff to conduct maintenance work during some of the lightest attended days of the year.
