Fred Meyer Helps SOVLE Collect 620,000 Pounds Of Trash

For the past year, SOLVE and Fred Meyer have joined forces to keep business fronts, parks, and neighborhoods in the Portland Metro area clean and healthy.

In 2022, over 7,500 volunteers collected approximately 620,000 pounds of litter and debris from city sidewalks, parks, and business fronts in the Portland Metro area.

Volunteers are provided a safety orientation at each cleanup event before receiving cleanup supplies such as a safety vest, gloves, and a litter grabber. Both SOLVE and Fred Meyer understand the gravity of protecting our treasured state, so to promote sustainable cleanups, litter is collected into recycled grain bags or reusable buckets.

While reducing the impacts of litter and debris through cleanup events is highly important, the partnership between SOLVE and Fred Meyer continues. Fred Meyer’s support of the SOLVE Detrash Portland Program has enhanced SOLVE’s ability to partner with community-based organizations specializing in houseless outreach resources. These community-based organizations include Dinner & A Movie, PDX Saints Love, Rahab Sisters, and more.

SOLVE is excited to continue building its partnership with Fred Meyer for many years to come. The positive impact on community members and our shared environment has been astounding!
