Ice Storm Coats Western Oregon

Sleet and freezing rain are making driving dangerous today, which is supposed to be the busiest travel day before Christmas.

The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning in effect through 10 p.m. Friday. Conditions are expected to warm above freezing on Saturday, except for the Columbia River Gorge which will remain icy longer.

ODOT has closed I-84 through the Columbia River Gorge.

Most flights at Portland International Airport on Friday morning were cancelled or delayed.

TriMet has buses running with chains. Some lines are cancelled or are on snow routes.

CTran has buses running with chains and some lines are on snow routes.

The freezing rain and wind is causing power outages for Portland General Electric, Clark Public Utilities and Pacific Power.
