Two Students Wounded In Shooting Near Jefferson High School

Portland Police are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon near Jefferson High School soon after classes let out.

One student was shot in the leg and ran into the school. The student was hospitalized and expected to recover.

Police are also investigating a report a girl may have suffered a grazing wound to her hand.

“It’s very concerning when violence like this affects our kids. I’m just grateful there was no loss of life today,” said Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell. "I know our investigators will continue to review any information and I urge anyone who knows anything to come forward."

There has not been an arrest in the case and police have not released any information about a suspect.
