Friday morning, Portland Fire & Rescue crews were called to the area of N Willamette Blvd. and N Ida Ave. on reports of a vehicle over an embankment.
When firefighters arrived they found a garbage/recycling truck partway down a steep slope.
The driver was injured, but was conscious and able to talk to firefighters. The driver reported that as the truck started to go over the hillside they were able to jump free.
The driver was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center with injuries that don't appear to be life threatening.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
