Senya Scott, of Ida B. Wells High School, has been crowned the Queen of Rosaria for 2022.
Queen Senya plans to use the $3,500 Scholarship (generously donated by The Randall Group) to pursue a political science degree at Howard University in Washington D.C. When available, Senya will continue representing the Rose Festival throughout the year in special appearances, and will reign until the 2023 Queen is announced next June.
Queen Senya was an important member of the Ida B. Wells name change committee, and takes great pride in helping the school with that transition. She also produced and hosted a campus news magazine podcast “Hot Tea with Senya,” and loved participating in the Ida B. Wells choir as the lead soprano.
The Queen’s Coronation presented by Unitus Community Credit Union has been a constant Rose Festival event, even with the COVID restrictions requiring virtual gatherings and very limited appearance opportunities. This year, the the 2022 Court was able to experience a full in-person program of training, traveling and presenting together.

The mission of the Rose Festival Court program is to provide scholarships for higher education, to promote community outreach and volunteerism, and to offer networking and mentoring opportunities to outstanding young women in a program that perpetuates an appreciation for Rose Festival history and tradition.
