Oregon is gearing up to host the world’s largest and most prestigious track and field event next month, which will bring thousands of visitors from over 200 nations to the state. The World Athletics Championships — also known as Oregon22 — will be held at the newly reimagined Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, marking the first time ever that the event will take place in the United States.

“In just a few weeks, Oregon will welcome Team USA and hundreds of world-renowned athletes and coaches for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22,” said Governor Brown. “This is an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Oregon. We can’t wait to welcome the world and showcase what makes Oregon so special and our treasured history with this sport.”

To celebrate the World Athletics Championships Oregon22, a public awareness campaign is launching across the state to mark this momentous occasion. Oregonians are invited to join the campaign, ‘Hello, World. Meet Oregon.’ by sharing content on their social media channels. Cities, counties, and businesses across the state will also soon be decorated with materials in honor of the championships.

Tickets are still available for Oregonians to join in the excitement and witness some of the sport’s top athletes realize their lifelong dreams as they compete for a chance to call themselves the best in the world. The state is ready to welcome all spectators, and Oregonians are asked to plan in advance and allow some extra travel time.

To help those who plan on attending, Oregon22 is launching a “Know Before You Go” campaign with information on what spectators need to know about the event, including getting to the venue, venue policies, spectator services, venue maps, and more. Additional information is available on the Oregon22 website.
