Police Pilot Program Makes First Arrest

On February 2, 2022, Central Precinct Officers responded to an incident where a victim's vehicle was taken at gunpoint at Southeast 6th Avenue and Southeast Ankeny Street. The vehicle was recovered by Central Precinct officers on February 5, 2022, and PPB criminalists were able to obtain evidence.

Central Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) officers and a Detective temporarily assigned to NRT began an investigation and developed leads, including a description of the suspect and specific clothing he may have been wearing.

Based on this new information, on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, Officers canvassed the area near the crime scene and soon found the suspect as well as evidence from the robbery. Officers obtained a search warrant and discovered additional evidence in the suspect's tent near the area of Southeast 7th Avenue and Southeast Ankeny. Officers arrested 35-year-old Brandon Robb. Robb was charged with Robbery in the Second Degree, Unauthorized use of a Weapon, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Motor Vehicle.

This is the first arrest/case worked during a new Central NRT/Detective pilot program. The close collaboration resulted in a case closure within a week of the initial crime.
