TriMet is bringing back free rides this New Year’s Eve in partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation. Kick back and enjoy the free rides on bus, MAX and Portland Streetcar starting at 8 p.m.
With COVID surging, many people will likely decide to celebrate at home, but for those who aren’t, we have you covered. If you’ve made plans to celebrate tonight, we want to help make your trips safe and responsible. Keeping the roads safe from impaired driving is a shared goal of TriMet and ODOT Transportation Safety.
More information about free rides on New Year’s Eve can be found at trimet.org/nye.
- Resources and tips
- Masks are still required while riding, per federal guidelines. We ask that riders please bring their own. But if they do need a fresh one, we continue to make them available on board all our vehicles.
- Riders can plan their trips in advance by going to trimet.org/planner. Remember that if you’re traveling after midnight, select Jan. 1 from the date menu.
- Real-time locations of buses and trains can be seen using our new trip planner at beta.trimet.org/home.
- Riders might want to wear something reflective, or brightly colored clothing, and bring a light to help operators see you more easily.
