New Portland Parking Option

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) has created new 5-minute parking zones for quick drop-offs and pickups. Parking in the zones is free. Dubbed 5-minute Fast Stops, the new zones were inspired by the temporary drop-off and pickup zones PBOT created as part of its Healthy Businesses program to support businesses during the pandemic.

The Fast Stops will provide a convenient and reliable parking space for:

Customers picking up take-out food at restaurants.

Drivers working for any number of food or retail delivery services to park and collect their products.

Drivers dropping off or picking up passengers, either private vehicles or a taxi, Uber, or Lyft.

Anyone who needs to park for 5 minutes or less.

PBOT is studying how these spaces work, both before and after installation, to ensure they work as intended.

The bureau will also surveying businesses, gig-worker drivers, and the general public to gauge their reactions to this new parking option.

PBOT crews have begun installing the new zones along five commercial corridors before rolling them out citywide. The locations include N Mississippi Avenue near Failing Street, NW 23rd Avenue at Savier Street, SE Division Street between 30th and 36th avenues, SE Stark Street at 80th Avenue, and SW Harvey Milk Street and 11th Avenue.
