Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered hundreds of firearms at a home in Clackamas County, in what is considered the largest weapons seizure in agency history.
On Thursday, July 29, deputies assigned to the Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant at the undisclosed residence as part of an on-going drug and firearms investigation.
During the search of the property, deputies found 337 firearms, including machine guns, thousands of rounds of ammunition and high capacity magazines. Deputies also located methamphetamine.
Arrests and charges in connection to the illegal weapons cache are expected.
“This massive firearms seizure comes on the heels of another large-scale investigation in June, when deputies recovered 44 firearms at a Gresham home. The number of illegal guns in our communities is staggering and underscores the challenge we face as a community against gun violence,” Undersheriff Nicole Morrissey-O’Donnell said. “We will continue our efforts to curb gun violence, to create safe and thriving communities for all who live, work and recreate in Multnomah County.”
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office would like to acknowledge these agencies for their assistance in the investigation:
• Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
• Multnomah County District Attorney’s Strategic Prosecution and Services Unit
• Multnomah County’s Department of Community Justice Parole and Probation
