Portland Police cleared Lownsdale Square Park Thursday morning. The park is located across the street from the U.S. Courthouse and has been the site of a camp and cooking area for demonstrators.
The park was cleared at the request of Oregon State Police who will start to assist the Federal Protective Service in guarding the courthouse starting tonight.
There was a demonstration again Wednesday night into Thursday morning. A large fire was started at the site of the former Elk Statue.
Federal officers responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and pepper balls.
