Suspected Bomber Released From Hospital

The man who was injured in an explosion on Wednesday in Rock Creek has been released from the hospital and booked into the Washington County Jail in Hillsboro.

26-year-old Jason Schaefer's mugshot shows he apparently suffered schrapnel wounds to his face and neck. One of his hands was seriously injured.

The FBI, Oregon State Police and Washington County Sheriff's Office were searching his apartment on Wednesday when he returned. There was a brief pursuit and as deputies were approaching his car there was an explosion.

A detective was injured, treated and released from a hospital.

Material to make explosives was found in Schaefer's apartment. Investigators have not said whether they learned what he planned to do with the explosives.

Schaefer is being held on a probation violation without bail. Additional charges are expected.
