17-Year-Old Arrested For Murdering Ex-Girlfriend Is Freed On Low Bond

This is a case study in what Crime Stoppers’ Andy Kahan calls the 'Harris County Bond Pandemic'.

Seventeen-year-old Frank DeLeon is arrested for murdering his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend, Diamond Alvarez, by putting 22-bullets in her back.

He was taken into custody on Monday and by early Wednesday he was freed on bond.

His bail was set at a paltry $250,000. So he was free after coming up with just $25,000.

This low bond was reportedly set because it was the amount that Harris County Democrat District Attorney Kim Ogg's office requested

The family of Diamond is rightly outraged.

KPRC-TV reports:

“Diamond Alvarez's mother said she's heartbroken that her daughter's accused killer was let out on such a low bond. A judge set bail at $250,000.
"My heart dropped again," Anna Machado said. "He executed my daughter. It was execution. Why would you want that animal to be out here? For what?"…
Machado said she's worried because DeLeon lives about five blocks away. She said her family has received threats and they fear something could happen to them.
"All we're trying to do is be in peace with Diamond. That is all we want. We are not doing anything wrong," Machado said.”

Investigators say DeLeon was angry after Diamond broke up with him.

On January 11th, she agreed to meet up with him at a park near her home. Authorities said that's when he shot her 22 times, mostly in her back.

Diamond's family heard the gunshots & rushed to find her at the park. Her mother says she died in her arms.

Why does this trash deserve bail.

Can you imagine what Diamond’s parents are going through, having to bury their daughter while knowing her killer is now free.
