Author, educator, and founder of Citizen University, Eric Liu, joined Glenn in the studio today to talk politics, policy, and the art of civil conversation between people with opposing views. The video clip above is proof-positive that a liberal progressive from Seattle and a staunch defender of all things libertarian can have a meaningful exchange of information without getting low-down and dirty.
“It is because we did ‘part one’ and [got to know each other] face to face, that we humanized each other,” explained Eric. He added, “I think American politics skips right over ‘part one’ today. It just feeds the worst style … which is just pure posturing and fighting for the appearance of winning.”
“The thing that you and I are not doing, that I think that some viewers will be upset that I’m not doing … neither of us are trying to win,” said Glenn. “If you try to win, I think everybody loses. That’s the problem with our society right now. It has only become about winning and losing.”
