Detectives Seek E-Bike Theft Suspects

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to identify several suspects accused of threatening two 15-year-old boys and stealing one of their e-bikes on July 23.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a vehicle following and swerving around an e-bike rider who was yelling for help near SE 62nd Avenue and SE Fern Avenue in Clackamas County.

Deputies soon contacted and interviewed two 15-year-old boys, one of whom reported that his e-bike had just been stolen.

The teens told deputies they had been riding their e-bikes near Hazeltine Park when a dark-blue sedan with four occupants pulled alongside them.

According to the teens, occupants of the vehicle threatened to shoot them unless they allowed the occupants to ride their e-bikes.

The teens told deputies they fled on their bikes and were pursued by the sedan. The teens became separated, and one eventually reached the dead end of SE Fern Avenue, where the sedan blocked his path.

Surveillance video shows a male exiting the sedan and approaching the teen. The teen told deputies the male demanded to ride his e-bike and then grabbed it. A second male exited the vehicle during the confrontation, while a third occupant exited and appeared to record the encounter.

Fearing he could be harmed, the 15-year-old relinquished control of his e-bike — a black Surron Light Bee X valued at approximately $4,000. Photos of the stolen e-bike are below.

One of the sedan's occupants then rode away on the Surron, heading westbound on SE Fern Avenue. The victim ran to a nearby residence for help, and the sedan left the area.
