NFL legend Bernie Kosar confirmed that he underwent a successful liver transplant in a video shared on his X account Monday (November 17) afternoon.

"I'm out and I'm feeling good," Kosar said in a video from his hospital bed. "Ready to enjoy the rest of the week and the rest of our lives."

Kosar, 61, who spent the majority of his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns, was hospitalized for internal bleeding as he awaited the transplant. The former quarterback was due to undergo the procedure last week, however, the donor was found to be infected, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Kosar reportedly underwent seven procedures to stop the internal bleeding prior to the transplant.

The liver was reportedly donated to Kosar by the family Bryce Dunalp, who died at the age of 21 due to complications from an anoxic brain injury, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to Cleveland Magazine's Hayden Grove.

"As we pray for Bernie, let us also pray for Bryce Dunlap and his family. Multiple people have told me that Bryce’s liver was donated to Bernie, who is undergoing a liver transplant. God bless the Dunlap family and all who know Bryce," Grove wrote on his X account.

Kosar was selected by the Browns in the first-round of the 1985 supplemental draft and spent nine seasons with the franchise, before joining the Dallas Cowboys midway through the 1993 season and spending his final two with the Miami Dolphins. The former University of Miami standout was a Pro Bowl selection in 1987, having led the Browns to their second of three AFC Championship Game appearances in a four-year span.
