Portland Police have arrested a suspect in the fire that destroyed City Councilor Candace Avalos' car.
51-year-old Vashon Locust was arrested Tuesday morning.
Police say he went into a shed to use an electrical outlet for a heater. When the outlet didn't work, he lit a small fire that spread. It damaged several vehicles, a carport and part of a condominium building.
No one was injured. Locust is charged with Reckless Burning and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.
