Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley spoke all night on the Senate floor explaining how he thinks President Trump is becoming an authoritarian ruler.
Merkley gave an example of an incident where protesters outside of the ICE building in Portland were moved back and without provocation federal officers assaulted them with tear gas and flash-bangs, so government videographers could record it.
Merkley says an authoritarian government needs a rubber-stamp Congress, a Supreme Court that gives the President more power, and a President who has an aggressive personality. Merkley says all three factors are in play and the authoritarian government is here.
