Oregon State is the largest university in Oregon for the 12th straight year with 38,460 students, according to preliminary enrollment figures released today.

“We’re proud to deliver on our mission as a modern land grant university by opening more paths to opportunity for more students than any other university in Oregon,” said Jayathi Murthy, Oregon State University president. “OSU’s academically rigorous, career-focused programs fuel the workforce, power the economy and create prosperity for our state, nation and world.”

Oregon State’s total enrollment for fall 2025 includes students at OSU locations in Corvallis, Bend, Portland, La Grande and through the university’s online Ecampus unit. This year, OSU’s student body includes representation from all 36 Oregon counties, 50 states and over 100 countries.

The new class of students in their first year at OSU totals 9,012, including 2,356 transfer students, reflecting ongoing efforts to ease Oregon students’ path to a four-year degree by partnering with community colleges.

Nearly 21% of new incoming students are first in their families to attend college, serving OSU's land grant mission of increasing educational opportunity for all Oregonians, at an institution that's ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the most affordable in the state. And 54% received the Oregon Opportunity Grant, which helps families to keep college within financial reach.

“This year’s enrollment figures reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting access and student success at Oregon State University,” said Nechell Bonds, OSU vice provost for Enrollment Management. “Our message of ‘every student graduates’ is not just a catchy phrase; it represents our deep commitment to ensuring that every student we admit—whether in person or online—has the opportunity to achieve their graduation goals.”

This bold and ambitious mindset has transformed how OSU allocates resources and makes investments. It also assures students and their families that the entire university is dedicated to providing the necessary support for every student to succeed, Bonds said.

Students enrolled at the campus in Corvallis totaled 25,374, up about 2% over last year. Ecampus enrollment across Oregon and beyond is holding steady after several years of significant growth with 11,647 students for fall 2025. OSU-Cascades in Bend is also maintaining its enrollment with 1,384 students this fall.

The current total OSU enrollment represents a slight increase over last year, for a 29th consecutive year of record numbers. The cohort of students participating in graduate and professional programs is larger than last year with particularly strong 10% year-over-year growth in online graduate enrollment.

Other notable enrollment figures for fall 2025 include:

The percentage of students of color enrolled in Corvallis and online has increased faster than OSU’s overall growth, at about 3%.

International enrollment remains strong at 2,181 students, despite changing visa guidelines. This year did see a decrease in new international students, reflecting national trends. However, the figure for returning international students is higher than last year’s.

Of the nearly 4,900 new freshmen enrolled, 57% are from Oregon. Washington is sending the highest number of new students to OSU, followed by California, Hawaii, Colorado and Texas.
