Oregon Governor Tina Kotek has responded to a letter from U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi that accused state officials and policies of thwarting federal immigration enforcement.
Kotek says public officials and police have not violated federal immigration law enforcement. She says Oregon's laws are consistent with the Tenth Amendment and anticommandeering rule.
The state does not take on additional expense to perform federal immigration enforcement which is the job of the federal government.
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson says he won't be bullied by Bondi.
Ferguson says Washington's bipartisan law limits the use of state and local resources for federal immigration enforcement. He says he's prepared to defend Washington state and he's not intimidated by Bondi or President Trump.
