DUI Suspected In Two Separate Crashes

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 12:05a.m., North Precinct Officers responded to a report of a crash at Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Prescott Street. They found a collision involving three vehicles. The driver of a 2019 Mercedes-Benz walked away from the scene without assisting injured people or exchanging information as required by law. At least one patient was transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

During the investigation, the suspect driver that left the scene was escorted back by his father and officers detained him for the investigation. Following the Traffic Division investigation, the juvenile male, 17, of Portland, was arrested and referred to the Juvenile Division of the Multnomah County Circuit Court for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants-Alcohol, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver with Injury. The case number is 25-215563. 

At 1:58 a.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision involving a Toyota Tacoma striking a tree near the intersection of Northeast Airport Way at Northeast Mason Street. The driver and sole occupant was ejected from the truck during the crash. He was critically injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance with injuries that were believed to be life threatening. 

The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team was called out to investigate. During the investigation, officers learned that medical providers were able to stabilize the patient, and now his injuries are believed to be survivable. 

Speed and alcohol impairment are believed to be factors in this crash. The crash remains under investigation under case number 25-215655.
