Youth Crime Ring Busted

Portland Police have busted a major crime ring involving teens and young adults.

The investigation took several months. On Friday, officers searched two locations and seized five guns, a stolen vehicle, seven identity cards, 35 credit cards and 50 VISA gift cards.

The suspects range in age from 16 to 21. Seven people were arrested. They would prowl vehicles in several Portland area cities looking for unlocked vehicles. If keys were left inside, they'd steal the vehicle.

They'd take credit cards to stores and use them to buy gift cards until the accounts were shut off.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information about this group’s activities, or anyone who believes they might have been a victim, to contact Officer Amy Li at amy.li@police.portlandoregon.gov.
