Retail Theft Mission Leads To Drug Use Arrests

Portland Police Central Precinct coordinated a joint Retail Theft Mission on Wednesday involving Neighborhood Response Teams from all three precincts, PPB Bike Squad, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, and representatives from various retail partners including loss prevention and store management.

The mission’s focus was the City Center of Portland, including the Old Town/Chinatown Neighborhood, Downtown Neighborhood, Pearl District, Goose Hollow Neighborhood and the Northwest District.

When theft activity slowed, the mission focus changed to criminal behavior related to livability in the neighborhoods, including drug use and dealing.

The Retail Theft Mission resulted in six arrests for Theft I, Theft I and Theft III charges.

The Crime Reduction Mission resulted in eight arrests with two people eligible for and agreeing to deflection. Those arrested involved people with warrants.
