Eastbound Hawthorne Bridge Traffic To Close

Starting Wednesday, Aug. 7 beginning at 7:00 p.m., all eastbound lanes on the Hawthorne Bridge will close for bridge repairs. All vehicular eastbound lanes will reopen at 11 a.m. the following morning. This will be a recurring closure Monday through Friday and will last until approximately Aug. 30.

Cyclists will be detoured to use the Morrison Bridge and pedestrians will be detoured to use the westbound sidewalk during this work. The pedestrian and cyclist detours will be in place at all times through Aug. 30. Bikes trying to use the Eastbank Esplanade ramp should use S.E. Clay St. and S.E. 7th Ave.

Work that required westbound lanes to close every weekday finished earlier than expected. The westbound lane closures were previously announced in late July.

All lanes and sidewalks will be reopened for the Providence Bridge Pedal, starting Saturday, Aug. 10, through Sunday, Aug. 11.
