Joe Biden, the presumptive Democrat nominee for president, has spent nearly a lifetime in politics and yet there is not one victory from his time as Senator or time in the Obama White House that the party can cling to during the 2020 election.
Instead, party leaders—smartly— have decided that the best way to oust President Trump is by selling gloom and doom, Buck Sexton, the host of “The Buck Sexton Show” said Tuesday.
“As long as they can keep people afraid right now… they view it almost like they’re stalling the economy and they’re stalling our sense of improvement at the starting line—if you will—of the race,” he said. “They’re trying to hold us back so that no matter what happens in the next few weeks, they will have done the necessary damage to our psyche, our economy and to our freedom to prevent Trump from being elected this fall.”
It has been a running joke on how rarely Biden addresses the media. His proponents insist that he’s abiding by the old saying in politics that “when your opponent is shooting himself in the foot, don’t take away his gun.” But others see the move as Democrats wisely understanding that the more Biden talks the more vulnerable he becomes to criticism. Biden's marriage with the emerging left-wing of the party is not an easy one, but-- if elected-- will no doubt be led by "the Squad."
While unrest rages across the country over allegations of police brutality directed toward the African-American community, it is ironic that Biden-- an older white man whose claim to fame is a crime bill blamed for locking up thousands of black men-- will be the nominee.
So Democrats have to seize onto something. Trump is vulnerable. So they have to push coronavirus fears, social unrest and unsourced stories in the New York Times about-- you guessed it!-- Russia.
Sexton said Democrats aren’t even clear on what the objective of the lockdowns is anymore. Back in March, the virus was a new threat and many Americans complied with strict guidelines from states. But now, as the number of diagnosed cases is increasing in some cities, the treat of a new lockdown looks legitimate.
“We’re going to be in lockdown forever,” Sexton said. “These morons who think that they have an answer to this never tell us what we are actually trying to accomplish. Lockdowns are not going to defeat the virus in America. It will destroy the American economy and it will ruin lives.”
