Arrest In Vehicle Arsons

Portland Police have arrested a suspect in three vehicle arsons.

Friday at 12:44 a.m., East Precinct officers responded with Portland Fire & Rescue to the 16000 block of Southeast Division Street on a report of a vehicle on fire. The suspect, 25-year-old Sierra Nicole Murdock, was immediately located and taken into custody near the scene.

Through their investigation, officers learned about a second vehicle that had been on fire nearby in the 2400 Block of Southeast 115th Avenue. Residents were able to extinguish this fire on their own.

Investigators with Portland Fire & Rescue and the Portland Police Bureau Fire Investigation Unit identified Murdock as the suspect in a previous similar incident.

Murdock was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center three counts of Arson in the Second Degree, three counts of Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, Theft in the Third Degree, and Harassment.
