Driver Arrested For Murder In Vancouver Crash

An 18-year-old driver is charged with murder following a crash in a Vancouver parking lot.

Vancouver Police responded to the crash near East 4th Plain Boulevard and General Anderson Aveue Wednesday afternoon.

When emergency personnel arrived, they located a 45 year old man trapped underneath a vehicle. Information from investigation indicates the pedestrian, who was skateboarding in the parking lot, approached the vehicle and allegedly punched the window.

The driver then made a U-turn and accelerated toward the pedestrian and did not brake until after he had struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

The drive, 18-year-old Joshua L. Jones, was interviewed by police and was later arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail for Murder II.

The identity of the pedestrian is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation by the Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit and Major Crime Unit is continuing.
