An investigation is underway into a fatal fire early Friday morning near Scappoose.
At 2:47 a.m., Scappoose Fire District firefighters responded to a fire in a triple wide manufactured home on Chapman Road.
It's located in a rural after and took firefighters 15 minutes to reach the scene.
When they arrived, there was heavy smoke on the front side of the structure, and large flames on the rear side, fully engulfed. They fought the fire defensively, because the roof had collapsed.
After the fire was out, firefighters found a body inside of the structure.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Fire Marshal, Oregon State Police and ATF are conducting an investigation surrounding the cause of the fire and the person found deceased inside.
