Early Friday morning the hillside above West Burnside cut loose sending mud and rocks onto the road.

West Burnside was closed between Barnes Road and Skyline through about 4 p.m., so crews could remove the debris.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation says it's the largest slide in the city in two years. They hauled more than seven dump truck loads of debris from the road.

The National Weather Service warning about the increase risk of landslides, because of the heavy rain that fell on Thursday.

The eastbound lane of West Burnside will remain closed through the weekend with a detour in place.
