Dramatic Body Cam Video Captures Police Officer Getting Hit By Train

A Georgia police officer is lucky to be alive after he was struck by a train. Officer Andy Anderson with the Polk County Police Department was chasing an 18-year-old suspect who allegedly stole a television and guitar from a nearby home when he ended up near train tracks.

Anderson didn't realize how close he was to the tracks as the suspect, identified as Jayden Moats, jumped to the other side. As Anderson gave chase, an oncoming train blared its horn, but it was too late, and Anderson was struck as the train sped past him.

Authorities released the dramatic video, which was captured by his 3D body camera. Anderson was thrown into the bushes on the side of the tracks but was not critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent surgery after suffering five broken ribs, a broken arm, and a concussion. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Moats fled the scene and is still on the run, though during the chase, he dropped the items he was accused of stealing.
