FBI Searching For Bank Robber Dubbed 'Big Wig Bandit'

Surveillance video released by the FBI shows the "Big Wig Bandit" during bank robberies in Huntersville, N.C., on Dec. 13, 2019 and in Belmont, N.C., on Jan. 7, 2020.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is trying to locate a suspect who has robbed at least three banks in North Carolina over the past few weeks. The robber has been dubbed the "Big Wig Bandit" because each time he robbed a bank, he was wearing a different wig.

The suspect donned a blonde wig while wearing high heels and a multi-colored shirt during his first robbery in Huntersville on December 13, 2019. He didn't strike again for three weeks, when he robbed a bank in Belmont wearing a long red wig that covered his face on January 7. A few hours later, he ditched the red wig and replaced it with a large, curly black wig, when he robbed a bank in Gastonia.

The FBI has asked the public for help identifying and tracking down the suspect. The agency asks anybody who may know the individual to submit an anonymous tip at tips.fbi.gov.
