Teenage Climber Injured On Mt. Hood

A 16-year-old climber was injured during a 500 foot fall Monday on Mt. Hood.

Around 9 a.m. Monday, Clackamas County 911 received a report of an injured climber.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says the climber was in the area of Pearly Gates at an elevation around 10,500 feet when the accident happened.

The climber suffered a leg injury.

Rescuers arrived at the climber's location around 1 p.m. They stabilized the injury and started bringing the climber down. The team arrived at Timberline Lodge around 4:45 p.m and transported the hiker in an ambulance to a hospital.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was assisted by climbers from Portland Mountain Rescue, the Hood River Crag Rats and AMR.
