Arrest Suspect Wanted To Kill Police

Portland Police arrest a suspect armed with a gun, bear spray, a knife and a baton who said he wanted to kill them.

Monday morning, officers with Central Precinct's Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) were in the area of Southeast Martin Luther King Boulevard and Southeast Belmont Street providing enhanced patrol. The NRT Officers recognized a male subject who had an active warrant.

The Officers contacted the male, who was identified as 23 year-old Kainan Hansen, and arrested him.

During a search, a loaded gun, a knife, an extendable baton, and a can of bear spray were found on Hansen.

During the search, Hansen told officers he wanted to fight them and the weapons were him to kill people like them.

Hansen was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center and charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon (Not a Firearm), Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public, Unlawful Possession of Firearms (Misdemeanor), Felon in Possession of a Firearm and a Parole Violation Warrant.
