A semi was involved in a single vehicle crash Wednesday night on I-5 northbound just past the Barbur Boulevard exit.
The truck hit a support for a sign bridge, jackknifed and caught fire killing the driver.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
The support for the sign bridge was damaged forcing ODOT to remove the sign bridge. That required closing I-5 northbound for several hours during the morning commute. Traffic was detoured onto Barbur Boulevard which caused massive delays.
Around 8:45 a.m. one lane of I-5 northbound was opened which work continued on the scene of the crash.
