Tip From Houston Leads To Gresham Sex Abuse Arrest

23-year-old Michael Kimbrough is charged in a three count indictment of sexually abusing a child.

Police and prosecutors are asking other victims to come forward.

On July 3, 2019, law enforcement located and arrested Kimbrough in the 600 block of Southwest 19th Avenue in Portland, Oregon.

Kimbrough is charged with three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree.

According to a probable cause affidavit, this investigation started when a 10-year-old child disclosed being sexually abused by his neighbor who was later identified as Kimbrough. The report of sexual abuse was made to a mandatory reporter who notified the Oregon Department of Human Services and law enforcement.

During the investigation, law enforcement learned the alleged sexual abuse occurred between November 1, 2016 and May 1, 2018 when the child was between the ages of eight and nine, according to court documents.

It is alleged in court documents that Kimbrough would invite the child over to his apartment, and that while the child played video games, Kimbrough sexually abused the child on multiple occasions.

According to the probable cause affidavit, law enforcement in Oregon, while investigating the sexual abuse allegations, learned of a separate criminal investigation involving Kimbrough.

“This federal case started in Houston, Texas where [law enforcement] learned that a suspect in Houston was sharing and exchanging child pornography files with another user online,” according to a probable cause affidavit prepared by Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney BJ Park, who is prosecuting this case.

Investigators identified the online user as Kimbrough and were able to trace his IP address to his residence and his place of employment at Jimmy Johns, according to court documents.

Members of the community with information on Kimbrough are asked to call Gresham Police Detective Aaron Dressler at 503-823-0244.
