Milwaukie Police Respond To Two Rollover Crashes

Milwaukie Police responded to two separate rollover crashes on Monday.

At 6:22 a.m., a vehicle rolled over on SE Railroad Avenue near SE Lamplighter Avenue.

It involved a 2017 Toyota Prius and a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle.

Police say, the driver of the Prius, 37-year-old Scott Johnson told them he was driving westbound on SE Railroad Avenue when an "unmanned - running motorcycle" sot out onto the road from SE Lamplighter Avenue and Johnson crashed trying to avoid the motorcycle.

Johnson wasn't hurt.

The case is being investigated as a hit and run. Police have not said what caused the motorcycle to be running without a rider.

At 11:53 a.m. on Monday, Milwaukie Police responded to a roll-over crash involving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer at, 2406 SE Harrison Street Milwaukie, Oregon (Spring Creek Apartments).

The Blazer landed upside down on the Light Rail tracks, halting both Light Rail and Union Pacific Rail Road travel in the area for approximately 45 minutes.

When Police arrived on scene, they discovered the Blazer’s owner, 29-year-old Arielle Brewer had driven in reverse through fencing, resulting in the vehicle dropping off a retaining wall approximately 15 feet above the tracks.

Brewer had minor scrapes and refused medical treatment beyond what was provided on scene.

Officers learned Brewer was having a male friend help her fix the brakes on the Blazer at the time of the crash.

The Blazer was removed from the tracks and both Light Rail and Union Pacific Railroad travel returned to normal. No citations were issued.
