WSDOT Working To Clean Up Oil Spill

An overturned tanker and oil spill has caused massive delays for drivers on I-5 northbound north of Centralia.

The freeway was closed after the crash, but not before many vehicles had driven through the oil spreading it on the northbound lanes.

The truck was carrying 4,000 gallons of used motor oil and 1,800 gallons spilled.

The driver, Jeffrey Anderson, was arrested for DUI.

No one was hurt in the crash.

WSDOT was able to clean the oil from two lanes which were opened around 12:30 p.m. The traffic was backed up 12 miles.

WSDOT says crews will need to work overnight to remove the rest of the oil from the freeway.
