Oregon City Police responded to a shooting Friday afternoon at the Mt. View Apartments at 1840 Molalla Ave.
The shooting involved roommates.
The victim who was shot was in a bedroom and the shooter was still in the apartment.
Police officers and Clackamas County deputies were able to break out the bedroom window and enter the bedroom withou knowing were the gunman was. The officers and deputies were able to get the victim out through the window. The victim was transported to OHSU with life threatening injuries.
The Clackamas County Inter-Agency SWAT and the Crisis Negotiating Team responded. The team deployed gas in an attempt to get the suspect to peacefully surrender. During the deployment one team member fired a shot but the suspect was not hit. The suspect ultimately exited the rear of the residence but was not cooperating. Less lethal weapons were deployed and the suspect, 31-year-old Daniel Craig Wiese, was taken into custody. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
The Oregon City Police Department along with the Clackamas County Major Crimes Team is investigating the initial shooting. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and the Major Crimes Team is investigating the officer involved shooting.
