Suspects Dies In Officer Involved Shooting

The suspect in a stabbing that injured four people in Southeast Portland early Monday morning died following an officer invollved shooting.

Police were dispatched to a stabbing at a residence at 13136 Southeast Center Street at 4:14 a.m. As officers were arriving, they learned of multiple victims who had been stabbed and the suspect was still inside.

Two stabbing victims were outside of the residence when officers arrived and more occupants were inside with the suspect.

Officers engaged the suspect inside the residence and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Less lethal munitions and lethal munitions were deployed.

The suspect, a male adult, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victims were provided emergency medical care at the scene. 4 adult victims (3 males, 1 female) were transported to area hospitals for treatment of substantial injuries from stab wounds. Conditions are unknown at this time.

An infant less than a year-old was inside the residence and is unharmed. The suspect was known to the victims. The three involved officers were not injured.

"Based upon preliminary information, it appears our officers acted quickly and heroically to save lives," said Chief Danielle Outlaw. "We will learn more details as the investigation unfolds and appreciate the community's patience as we gather the details of what transpired."
