Driver Faces Several Charges After Passenger Dies In Crash

Driver faces manslaughter after crashing stolen vehicle and killing passenger while trying to flee police in SE Portland Saturday night.

Police say 26-year-old Adam Valle is accused of driving a stolen car while under the influence, when an officer tried to pull him over at Southeast 124th Avenue and Division Street.

Police say Valle wouldn't stop and tried to flee. The officer didn't pursue the vehicle. Shortly after losing sight of the vehicle, police say Valle crashed into a pole on Southeast 124th Avenue and Division Street, killing Valle's passenger.

Police say Valle ran from the scene, but was caught just a block away.

Valle suffered non-life threatening injuries from the crash.

Valle's being charged with 2nd degree manslaughter, hit and run, driving under the influence of intoxicants, and reckless driving.
